Let us celebrate cultures!

October is a month that we like a lot because it reminds us how lucky we are in Costa Rica to have so many cultural influences.
In doing a quick review, we see that our country is influenced by cultures such as Afro-Caribbean, Chinese, Indigenous and Spanish. In addition, there are even micro influences such as Italian and German just to mention a couple. This gives us a diversified identity that is reflected in many ways. In this blog we will review some categories to recognize the legacy of each culture.

Art:  We are full of colors and shapes! This is due to two cultures, the colorful Afro-Caribbean that through the Limonenses, has been responsible for giving color to this country. Their clothes, paintings, even how they paint and decorate their homes. They explode with color. At the level of form, our Indigenous people have left us a millenary legacy, where the huetares taught us to draw, an example being their figures in clay vessels. The bruncas took other forms, their famous spheres, are an enigma worldwide.

Music: The Guanacastecan dance is perhaps the most significant dance within our folklore, which we take with pride around the world. We can also mention the Calypso limonense, because it is unique and exportable, due to the great work done by Walter Ferguson. Here, we also have a flower in the buttonhole, because we have modern musical currents, such as the new Costa Rican song, where there are great exponents such as Malpaís, which is a mixture of many worlds’ musical genres.

Food: This space rounds out our tour of cultural influences, but let us talk about how we take from different parts of the world, ingredients and recipes to make our own delicious dishes, and as a beach hotel, what we like the most, is everything from the sea.

We have learned to make delicious dishes, such as coastal ceviche, which is a very Puntarenense recipe and is one of our recommendations in the restaurants of Punta Leona.

How we look

We cannot leave out our looks and how we see ourselves. Although we are a very small territory, it is very easy to identify where we come from and with the pride that we show it. Guanacastecos, Josefinos, Norteños, Limonenses, Porteños, we are a mixture of many parts of the world and share a common gesture: a smile. At Hotel Punta Leona we love to be the center of such a diverse country, with so much culture making us unique and attractive worldwide. This allows us to offer our foreign visitors an exclusive multi-cultural experience all in one place – Punta Leona Resort.

Long live our cultures!
