Every year, March 22 is the day we pay tribute to the world's water resource and raise awareness about the need to protect our water resource and to recognize the needs of the 2 billion people who lack access to drinking water.
The celebration of water was initiated in 1992 within the framework of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. The objective of Water Day is recognize and raise awareness about the importance of water and the dangers it faces due to climate change, pollution and practices that threaten nature.
Since the beginning, UN member states have participated annually educating and reporting on water with some specialized approach every year. For example:
For 2022 the key issue is Groundwater also known as aquifers.
Ground Water are all those water reserves that lie beneath the surface. Underground Water, despite many efforts for protection are threatened by overexploitation and leaks of polluting substances.

Water is life and what are we doing to take care of it is very important.
Water is everywhere and everything, the indispensable water for life in all its manifestations; the human body is composed of 75% water, it is necessary for food production, hygiene, fighting diseases, scientific and industrial development, energy production and the list goes on...
Despite this , humanity with its ambition and carefree action continues to endanger the reserves of this important liquid. As we mentioned at the beginning there are millions of people who suffer from the lack of water in the world and the number is increasing hand in hand with climate change, the advance of desertification, exploitation for economic purposes and the mismanagement of waste.
Fortunately, social organizations and governments have not sat idly by. The proclamation of water as a human right and a good of social interest is one of the main advances in political matters, since this gives rise to updating legislation and establishing control and protection mechanisms that help democratize access and protection of water at the local and global level. Rural and indigenous communities around the world give no respite in their struggle to protect nature and its resources.
But all this is not enough if we do not take action at the individual level. Individual contributions can make a difference if they are constant and we work in two dimensions: saving and protecting.
Saving: some tips to reduce waste
Protect: Many of our actions generate knock-on effects that endanger water resources.
In Hotel Punta Leona we put our grain of sand. We work hand in hand with the community to take care of the water and all the natural resources that surround us.
These are some of the actions:
Make your contribution from your home and community and do not forget that "Drinking water gives us life and thus the appreciation of water"
