There is a very special corner in Punta Leona, where our guests find a sanctuary of peace, in the middle of nature. A few steps from the reception can be found our Butterfly Garden waiting to receive our guests with the delicate and silent beauty of the inhabitants.
Our specialists have brought host plants from the forest and carefully cultivated them within the sanctuary. The plants have enabled more than 20 species of butterflies to spend their lives fluttering among the flowers of the garden and laying the precious eggs.
All the species of the butterfly farm have been collected from the secondary forest that are part of the Punta Leona Resort. Some of the eggs were transported from nature to begin their life cycle in the garden while others grew from butterflies already in the garden.
After more than 10 years of existence, the butterfly garden of Punta Leona is self-sufficient, meaning that all butterflies are born, grow and reproduce within the garden and it is no longer necessary to bring specimens from the forest or other hatcheries.
The butterfly garden is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. free to all who wish to experience this wonder of nature. Guests can visit individually or join a group for our guided tour at 10:00 a.m. The tour is limited and requires registration, so please consult the reception of the Hotel to reserve your space.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. it is the period of greatest activity of the butterflies so it will be easier to observe and appreciate them at that time.
