Punta Leona is one of the most important private reserves in the Pacific of Costa Rica. Here you will find lush tropical forest combined with three different beaches. One of most famous beaches of Costa Rica, Playa Blanca, stands out with white sand accompanied by emerald green waters. At Punta Leona, we are known for taking care of the ecosystem providing a excellent environment for different species of flora and fauna. As a result, we have a unique and differentiated ecosystem.
Costa Rica’s diversity of nature is highly recognized throughout the world as well its stewardship of the environment. In Punta Leona, we have been awarded the blue flag an example of this is Playa Blanca, known for being synonymous with fun, wonder and a place that houses artificial reefs. These reefs are part of an ambitious project that aims to reach the Gulf of Nicoya, generating more marine life in the entire maritime coast of the Central Pacific.
And we are much more than that, a place where you can experience two ecosystems in a unique transition from the humid rainforest to the dry tropical forest. The area of Punta Leona is one of the few areas where that is possible. In the forest, we have three trails, of approximately one hour, where we have counted 330 different types of birds and mammals such as white faced monkeys, raccoons, pizotes, kinkajúes, spider monkeys, sloths, butterflies. There is also a great variety of trees and plants.
